Are you asking Why Solar Power? You’ve seen solar panels on top of people’s homes? You might think it is not for you. Although, the reality is that right now is the best time to get solar power.
Here are three reasons why go solar power now
1. Mainstream Energy Sources Are Not 100% Reliable, or Guaranteed
As reported in Survival Life, April 2013, 17 large PG&E transformers located inside a high-security fence were destroyed by a sniper team near San Jose, California? Just before the shooting started, they cut a fiber optic communications cable running near the facility which caused a total area-wide communications blackout.
You probably also did not know that there is no single electrical grid. There are hundreds of separate generating facilities and thousands of transmission lines owned and maintained by many different companies, meaning that at any time, any of these facilities can have problems, leaving hundreds of people without power.
2. Typical Energy Sources Cause Pollution
I don’t have to tell you that burning coal or using fresh water as a source of cooling is not going to help our environmental crisis. I also don’t have to tell you that gas transmission pipelines, power lines, and gas turbine generators are not good for our environment or our health. But maybe you didn’t know that according to a London based researcher, eight of the world’s largest oil companies are responsible for as much of the climate-damaging pollution as the entire U.S. These companies – including Saudi Aramco, Exxon Mobil Corp., OAO Gazprom, the National Iranian Oil Co., BP Plc and Royal Dutch Shell Plc – released a fifth of all greenhouse gases outside of farming and forestry since 1988. It was also around this time that we finally began to connect greenhouse gases with environmental damage. Now, 32 years later, it is well past time to take action.
3. Solar Power Doesn’t Cost A Thing
Solar energy is 100% free. Yes, you do have to purchase the panels. But, thanks to tax breaks, energy savings, and increased home value, those panels really do pay for themselves. After that, the energy you produce is yours to keep. That sounds a pretty good deal to me.
